BOWERS, Mary Roach Sutherlin

Mary Bowers, daughter of Thomas and Cathryn Roach was born in Kerry County, Ireland Jan 1, 1863 and departed this life Nov 25, 1923 at the age of 60 years 10 months 24 days. She came with her parents to the US in 1864. She was united in marriage to William Milford Sutherlin Dec 22, 1879. To this union were born four children, the father and two children having preceded her to the Great Beyond. June 3, 1897 she again united in marriage to William David Bowers, he having passed away Oct 11, 1918. She united with the Methodist Church at Union Chapel about the year 1893. She was always cheerful and patient, even in sickness, thinking of the comfort of those around her. She leaves to mourn for her love and companionship, two children, Ora Sutherlin and Mrs. Nannie Spencer, both of Russellville 10 grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Debbie O’Connor of New Market; Mrs. Nellie Sharp of Bainbridge and Miss Cathryn Roach of Clinton Falls, Cathryn having lived with her sister for the last 4 years; two brothers, John Roach of Greencastle and Thomas Roach of Morton and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon by Rev. ET Miles of Fairview Park, Ind. Interment was made in Hebron cemetery. Six grandsons, Gerald, Clyde, Ronald, Glenn, Claude Sutherlin and Clyde Spencer acted as pall bearers.  Those acting as flower girls were the three grand daughters, Gladys and Elva Sutherlin and Vera Spencer. – transcribed by kbz
